Andretta Artists Village: Andretta artists colony was started some 75 years ago by an Irish woman named Norah Richards, who acquired the land from the District Commissioner of Kangra in 1935. Norah Richards, a dramatist, and environmentalist lived in Andretta from the mid 30's, through the time of partition until her death in 1971. She was a formidable and resourceful Irish woman, passionate about Shakespeare, who built an adobe house here in the English style. Andretta Pottery and Crafts Society in the village is a working art pottery making attractive earthenware with rangoli style slip designs. The pottery offers three-month classes for students. Also attached to the pottery is a Terracotta Museum. While the main collection in this museum is the work of local village potters from the neighboring parts, the museum also has a house collection of pottery from around the globe including several works from Mexico, England, and Holland. Sobha Singh Art Gallery in the village is a display of work by the famous painter of Sikh gurus, Sobha Singh, created over his three decades in Andretta. He was another of Norah's artist friends that she brought together to share her dream.

The Mirage is a yoga retreat and heritage homestay in the foothills of the Dhauladhar Range. A New Zealander and his Indian companion's vision, The Mirage is a multi-function residency hosting travelers and yoga groups. It is a cluster of traditional Himachali mud houses which have lovingly been restored to an inviting homestay and retreat with fully modern amenities. Set amongst dense foliage in the artist's colony of Andretta, against a backdrop of jungle and bamboo groves of the Shivalik hills, the Mirage is a veritable museum of hand-picked Indian furniture and artifacts.

Yoga Instructor

AYESHA SANDHU

Yoga inspires me to live each moment more mindfully.

Yoga to me is the realisation of the love and developing immense trust for our body, mind and soul. Through daily practice on and off the mat the realisation that the divine resides within deepens.

I completed my 900 hour Teachers training with The Yoga Institute in Mumbai in Jan 2016. Started YogAmoreShala- a studio with my partner in Chandigarh and have been teaching since.  I have done additional courses in Iyengar Yoga from RIYMI, Pune and Yog Ganga, Dehradun. I will always be a student of the practice and am deeply grateful for the learnings and sharing I have experienced.

In my classes, I love to combine creative sequencing, focus on alignment, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help you deepen your practice.  My intention is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced.

I am passionate about creativity, food, and living life in a wholesome and sustainable way.
